Program Overview

Your CIEE Semester Intern and Study Abroad program in Barcelona lasts 12 weeks and features three key components: A part-time internship with an international organization (approximately 20 hours per week), an internship seminar, and two elective courses taught online through CIEE’s global academic partner, ASU. Enhance your experience with cultural and extracurricular activities while building career skills, expanding your professional network, and immersing yourself in Spanish culture. Live, learn, and work in Barcelona!

Unique Experiences

Create and refine 3D models and animations

for a virtual and augmented reality company

Design and anlyze roads, bridges, and water systems

at a tech and engineering services organization

Liaise with vendors and coordinate with logistics

to organize a short film and animation festival

Program Highlights

Samples of past excursions and activities:

  • Visit some of the most emblematic neighborhoods in Barcelona to immerse yourself in the local culture
  • Go on a business-related visit to learn about production and management in a local Spanish factory
  • Take a day trip and hike in Montserrat, a Benedictine monastery retreat high atop one of the most spectacular mountain ranges in Catalunya
