Program Overview

Your CIEE Semester Intern and Study Abroad program in Florence lasts 12 weeks and features three key components: A part-time internship with an international organization (approximately 20 hours per week), an internship seminar, and two elective courses taught by CIEE faculty. Enhance your experience with co-curricular and extracurricular activities while building career skills, expanding your professional network, and immersing yourself in Italian culture. Live, learn, and work in Florence!

Samples of past excursions and activities:

Participate in a perfume-making workshop and discover how this centuries-old practice has become a multi-million dollar business field
Learn about the unique food culture and sector in Florence through a pasta-making cooking class
Participate in a day trip to a wine and olive oil estate to learn about the production, history, and business aspects

Academics

CIEE Florence: Located in historic Palazzina Marchi on Piazza della Indipendenza, the Study Center is just steps from the University of Florence, Florence University of the Arts, San Lorenzo Market, the train station, and airport tram. Surrounded by cafés, restaurants, and local favorites, the Study Center features an architecturally unique octagonal studio commissioned by American sculptor Horatio Greenough, filled with natural light from every angle.

GAIN Travel Grants - Up to $1,500 toward travel costs guaranteed to students with a FAFSA SAI of $10,000 or less. Higher should still apply!

Gilman Go Global Grants - Up to $2,500/semester, $1,500/quarter, and $1,000 guaranteed to Benjamin A Gilman International Scholarship applicants.

Merit-Based Scholarships - Up to $2,500/semester, $1,500/quarter, and $750/summer awarded to students deomonstrating high academic achievement.
