Program Overview

Your CIEE Semester Intern and Study Abroad program in Athens lasts 12 weeks and features three key components: A part-time internship with an international organization (approximately 20 hours per week), an internship seminar, and two elective courses taught by CIEE faculty or online through CIEE's global academic partner, ASU. Enhance your experience with cultural and extracurricular activities while building career skills, expanding your professional network, and immersing yourself in Greek culture. Live, learn, and work in Athens!

CIEE’s excursions and cultural activities in Athens will open doors for you to explore Greece’s rich diversity, language, culture, history, contemporary trends, vibrant art, and timeless beauty in ways that will enhance your time abroad.

Samples of excursions and activities:

  • Experience Athens' vibrant business scene by connecting with local entrepreneurs and professionals in the charming, historic Plaka district 
  • Take a weekend escape to the car-free island of Hydra, where you can relax, explore, and soak in stunning views of the Aegean Sea 
  • Explore ancient Athens by walking through iconic sites like the Acropolis, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, and the Ancient Agora, immersing yourself in the city’s rich history and culture
