Program Overview

Your CIEE Summer Global Internship program in Melbourne lasts 8 weeks and features two key components: A full-time internship with an international organization (approximately 30-40 hours per week) and an internship seminar. Enhance your experience with co-curricular and extracurricular activities while building career skills, expanding your professional network, and immersing yourself in Australian culture. Live, learn, and work in Melbourne!

Activities

CIEE’s excursions and cultural activities in Melbourne will open doors for you to explore Australia’s rich diversity, language, culture, history, and timeless beauty in ways that will enhance your time abroad. 

Samples of past excursions and activities: 

  • Enjoy a game of Aussie Rules football or cricket at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground, the largest sports and music stadium in the southern hemisphere 
  • Meet Australia’s unique wildlife up close at Healesville Sanctuary and learn about conservation efforts, watch captivating animal feedings, and connect with the natural world in the heart of the Yarra Valley 
  • Get a bird's-eye view of Melbourne, including the city, beaches, gardens, and the distant Mount Dandenong from the 88th floor of the Melbourne Skydeck

GAIN Travel Grants - Up to $1,500 toward travel costs guaranteed to students with a FAFSA SAI of $10,000 or less. Higher should still apply!

Gilman Go Global Grants - Up to $2,500/semester, $1,500/quarter, and $1,000 guaranteed to Benjamin A Gilman International Scholarship applicants.

Merit-Based Scholarships - Up to $2,500/semester, $1,500/quarter, and $750/summer awarded to students deomonstrating high academic achievement.
