Program Overview

Your Summer Intensive French Language program lasts 8 weeks and is designed for students with intermediate- to advanced-level French skills. You will enroll in CIEE courses. Enhance your experience with co-curricular and extracurricular activities while immersing yourself in French culture. Live and learn in Rennes!

Excursions & Activities

CIEE’s excursions and cultural activities in Rennes will open doors for you to explore France's rich diversity, language, culture, history, and timeless beauty in ways that will enhance your time abroad.      

Samples of past excursions and activities: 

  • Embark on a journey through time as you explore Medieval walled cities such as Fougères, Dinan, or Vannes
  • Get away to Nantes and discover the Galerie des Machines, a bestiary of machines inspired by the imaginary world of the writer Jules Verne
  • Indulge in delectable crêpes and other regional specialties and become familiar with Rennes by involving your senses

Projects

  • Volunteering. Students can give back to the host community by helping French children with their English at the Franco-American Institute, and/or keeping elders company in a local retirement home.
  • Peer-to-peer tutoring. At the Franco-American Institute in Rennes, brush up on your language skills by chatting with French conversation partners, joining a French book club, going to movies or playing board games with your French peers.
