Program Description:
Maynooth Engr&Comp Sci School
 
Maynooth University is Ireland’s fastest growing university with over 11,000 students from more than 90 countries. Maynooth University benefits from a tradition of academic excellence in the humanities and sciences tracing back to 1795. Located just 15 miles from Dublin, Maynooth offers world-class teaching facilities and small class sizes. The diverse, flexible and selective study abroad curriculum enables you to match your study abroad options with your home university program. 

Eligibility

Students must be sophomores, juniors or seniors with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 545 (paper based) or equivalent is required if English is not your first language.
 

Academics

Pick two courses to take as part of your summer school programme - one from 'Stream A' and one from 'Stream B

Your 1st class MUST be from 'Stream A'. 
Your 2nd class can be from Stream B.
No stream B classes in first two weeks.
 
Sample Timetable:
Week 1 & 2
Monday to Thursday:
Stream A class 9.30am to 12.30pm

Week 3 to 6
Monday & Wednesday:
Stream B class 9.30am to 16.30pm

Tuesday & Thursday:
Stream A class 9.30am to 16.30pm

Courses carry either 5 ECTS or 7.5 ECTS Credits.
5 ECTS can equate to either 2.5 or 3 US credits but please check with your home advisor.

All courses also include at least one field trip where you can explore sites relevant to your course material.

  

Accommodations

  • Stay in our on-campus apartment–style Village  residence: you will have your private room within a 4- or 5-bedroom apartment and share 2 washrooms with your flatmates.
  • Each apartment has a furnished kitchen and a living room/dining room area.
  • Kitchens come stocked with some key cooking equipment and utensils.
  • Housekeeping is on a regular basis with linen and towels included and changed weekly.
  • Wifi is freely available throughout campus.
  • Laundry can be accessed using our laundry room - tokens as of now are €4.50 per load.

Meals

  • Breakfast is provided in our on-campus Student Union restaurant from Monday to Friday.
  • Lunch is provided in our on-campus Student Union restaurant from Monday to Thursday.
  • Most special dietary requirements can be catered for with sufficient advanced notice.
  • There are various supermarkets within easy walking distance of the campus.

Cost

Program cost: €4,505 (approx. $4,850) for 2023
Your program includes:
  • Airport shuttle: (please note that because of check-in times the earliest coach for arrival day will most likely be at 10am)
  • Transport: All transport for field trips & a Irish public transport LEAP Card
  • Orientation: 'MU Welcome Packs' with day trip to Dublin and special 4th of July welcome breakfast!
  • Tuition: full tuition for your academic courses and transcripts
  • Housing: Single rooms in on-campus University apartments
  • Field Trips: At least one field trip per academic class 
  • Activities: At least two 'evening social activities' organised per week 
  • Meals: Cooked breakfast, Monday-Friday & hot lunch Monday-Thursday
  • Staff: In order to support you through the programme our range of summer school staff provide support 24 hours a day and live on campus with you so that you always have someone to talk to, hang with and to lead you in your activities, field trips and weekend adventures. 
What's not included?:
  • Transport: All transport outside of what is outlined above
  • Dinner: Students are responsible for arranging their own meals outside of breakfast and lunch
  • Personal travel and Medical Insurance
  • Optional Day Excursions: Each week on the Friday our student coordinators will be organising optional day trips to places across Ireland. These trips are organsied based on student feedback and demand upon arrival
