Program Overview

Your CIEE Social Sciences + Humanities program in Amsterdam lasts a full semester.  You will enroll in a combination of CIEE courses, host institution courses, and courses taught online through CIEE's global academic partner, ASU. Enhance your experience with co-curricular and extracurricular activities while immersing yourself in Dutch culture. Live and learn in Amsterdam!

Excursions & Activities

CIEE’s excursions and cultural activities in Amsterdam will open doors for you to explore the Netherlands' rich diversity, language, culture, history, and timeless beauty in ways that will enhance your time abroad.      

Samples of past excursions and activities: 
  • Experience a world-class Dutch theater or dance performance at a historic concert hall
  • Explore Amsterdam's world-famous canal belt on a private canal cruise
  • Travel overnight to experience life in another Dutch city or slip out of urban life at a coastal preserve

Program Highlights

  • Academic Courses: Choose from CIEE courses, host institution courses, and online courses delivered by CIEE’s global partner, ASU, that align with your academic major.
  • Immersive Experiences: Participate in activites, excursions, study tours, and more that showcase your host city's culture, values, and local art, film, music, cuisine, and sports scenes.
  • Cultural Projects: Volunteer to teach English once a week at a local elementary or middle school and attend local workshops and events to get to know your host city.

Gilman Go Global Grants - $2,500/semester and $1,000/summer, guaranteed to all Gilman applications.

Merit-Based Scholarships - $2,500/semester and $750/summer, awarded to students deomonstrating high academic achievement.

Minority Serving Institutions (MIS) Grant - $2,000/semester and $500/summer, guaranteed to all students attending MSIs.
